Highlights

  • Stunning rice terraces in Vietnam: Discover many breathtaking rice terraces in Northern Vietnam (e.g. Sapa, Mu Cang Chai, Hoang Su Phi, Pu Luong) and immerse yourself in the incredible and fantastic beauty of the golden rice fields.
  • Impressive limestone mountains in Vietnam: Limestone mountains rising from emerald waters have an important role in creating the scenic beauty of Halong Bay, famous for being one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Ninh Binh – the Halong Bay on land.
  • Rare Irrawaddy dolphins in Cambodia: The Mekong River in Kratie, Cambodia is home to the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins. Visiting this region, tourists can see these adorable dolphins coming out of the water if they are lucky.
  • Ancient sites in Cambodia: Proud to be the holy land of the Khmer kingdom with a majestic complex of ancient architecture, the monuments of Angkor temples in Siem Reap are considered the greatest religious monuments in the world.

Tips

  • Both Vietnam and Cambodia have a tropical monsoon climate, so they are subject to a dry and rainy season. The period from November to February (cool/mild and dry) is the most comfortable time to visit Vietnam and Cambodia.
  • Be open-minded: The landscapes, cultures, and customs of Vietnam and Cambodia may be very different from what you have known before, but that doesn’t make them better or worse.
  • Cash: Most street food vendors, market stalls, and small souvenir shops accept cash, so make sure you have some with you at all times.
  • Check with your doctor about six weeks before your trip to find out what vaccinations are suggested for the countries you plan to visit.

Why Visit Vietnam - Cambodia Together?

Vietnam and Cambodia are the most natural two-country combination in Indochina: Vietnam gives you a fast-changing timeline from imperial cities to modern street life, while Cambodia slows everything down with Angkor’s sacred scale and Mekong riverside culture. Our Vietnam Cambodia Tours for 2026/2027 are built around smooth logistics between the two countries, realistic travel days, and guided context so you understand what you are seeing, not just “tick boxes.”

When Is the Best Time to Travel to Vietnam and Cambodia?

For overall comfort, the most reliable window is typically November to February, when conditions are generally cooler and drier across much of Vietnam and Cambodia, making multi-day touring easier. That said, a good itinerary still depends on your priorities:

  • If you want clearer hiking conditions in the north (Sapa, rice terrace areas), cooler months are usually more comfortable for walking.
  • If you prefer greener scenery and fewer crowds, the “shoulder” periods around the main dry season can be a smart trade-off, as long as you accept occasional rain and build a flexible schedule.

What Experiences Can You Expect on a Vietnam Cambodia Itinerary?

A well-designed Vietnam Cambodia tour is built around three layers: iconic landmarks, everyday local life, and travel rhythm that stays comfortable. In practical terms, that usually means:

  • Heritage highlights that are worth the travel time
    • Halong Bay, famous for limestone karsts rising from the Gulf of Tonkin.
    • Hoi An Ancient Town, a well-preserved trading port cityscape.
    • Angkor Wat, one of Southeast Asia’s most important archaeological sites, spread across a vast park area.
  • River culture and “real life” moments
    • Mekong Delta days that focus on water-based life and markets in southern Vietnam.
    • Phnom Penh riverside energy and French-influenced urban layers (best understood with a strong guide rather than rushing through).
  • A pace that doesn’t exhaust you
    • Logical sequencing (Northern to Southern Vietnam, then Cambodia).
    • Buffer time for heat, walking effort, and travel days, especially around Angkor temple touring.

My friend and I are foodie travelers, so we decided to book this tour with the desire to explore the Southeast Asia culinary scene, and this tour was absolutely beyond our expectations. Both Thai and Vietnamese cuisine are great, from their look to flavor. In each destination, we tried some food, and all of them were so excellent that they awakened our taste buds. Our 10-day trip from Chiang Mai to Phuket was an amazing experience, thanks to IDC Travel. In Chiang Mai, we explored beautiful temples, visited an ethnic elephant sanctuary, and enjoyed the lively night markets. Then, off to Phuket, where we relaxed on stunning beaches, took a breathtaking Phi Phi Islands tour, and indulged in delicious Thai food. The itinerary was well organized, and our guide made every moment so special. Highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting Thailand!

My friends and I decided to take this trip to Thailand, and it was so fascinating. We have never visited a floating market like Famnoen Saduak, so this was so exciting to experience the vibrant atmosphere. The Grand Palace left us in awe with its intricate architecture and rich history. Then, the cruise on the Chao Phraya River gave us a unique and romantic view of Bangkok. Big thanks to our guide for making the trip smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour for first-time travellers to Thailand!
