  • The most beautiful beaches in Vietnam are concentrated in the center.
  • Bring inner tubes and life jackets if you are traveling with your children.
Don’t forget sun protection items: umbrella, hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. Long hours of walking and swimming cause sunburn.

Central Vietnam - The historical and cultural cradle of the country

The center of Vietnam extends over more than a thousand kilometers from north to south. The region is limited to a narrow strip of land, bordered by the Annam mountain range to the west, a natural border with Laos and the East China Sea.

The central region has several of the most beautiful beaches, bays, and caves in the country. With 1500 km of coastline, the region has pristine beaches bathed in jade-colored waters and is home to charming little fishing ports.

Cuisine

Central Vietnamese cuisine is famous for its heavy use of chili. In the restaurant, taste the local dishes and do not hesitate to ask for a less spicy version of the typical traditional dishes, among which:

Rice noodles with beef (Bun Bo) – Hue

This signature Vietnamese soup from Hue consists of noodles and beef soaked in a normally spicy broth, seasoned with cilantro, chopped green onions, raw onions, banana flowers, and Thai basil, among other things.

Beef rice noodles (Le Bun Bo)

Mi Quang-Da Nang

A specialty of Central Vietnam that you absolutely must taste during your visit to Da Nang. This noodle dish is topped with beef, chicken, or pork, and seasoned with herbs, often eaten with rice cakes.

Cao Lau/ Chicken rice (Com Ga) – Hoi An

Cao lau is the culinary specialty of Hoi An with a broth made from rice noodles mixed with mint (or other herbs). It can be eaten with pork slices, soybeans and crackers.

Cao Lau Hoi An

Cao Lau an essential dish of Hoi An

Chicken rice is another exclusive dish of Hoi An cuisine. You can find the recipe in all delicious Asian cookbooks. Hoi An Chicken Rice is above all a colorful dish: the yellow color of the rice contrasts with the green of the herbs (turmeric and coriander), the white of the chicken and minced onion, and the red of the chili.

An Unforgettable Adventure: My 12-Day Vietnam Tour with IDC Travel and Alex

Reviewed by Ebert, December 16, 2022

From start to finish, this tour was an exceptional experience. Alex, our travel advisor, was incredibly helpful in answering all of our questions and putting together a tailored itinerary that perfectly fit our interests and preferences. We were able to visit some of Vietnam's most iconic sites, including Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, and the Cu Chi Tunnels, as well as lesser-known but equally fascinating places like the Mekong Delta and the Marble Mountains.

The accommodations throughout the tour were top-notch, with clean and comfortable rooms, delicious food, and friendly staff. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, personable, and went out of his way to make sure that we had the best possible experience. He was always available to answer our questions, offer suggestions, and make sure that we were comfortable.

One of the highlights of the tour was the opportunity to meet and interact with local people, both in the cities and in more rural areas. We were able to learn about their culture and way of life, and even participate in some traditional activities like making rice paper and fishing with local fishermen.

Overall, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. If you are looking for an immersive and unforgettable experience in Vietnam, IDC Travel and Alex are the way to go. Thank you for an incredible trip!

Beautiful Vietnam !!!

Reviewed by Leanne S. Marquis, December 15, 2022
The guide knew the area very well and spoke good English. The beach is beautiful and maybe because of the virus fewer people travelling, or maybe because of the location and the timing, but it felt like we had the whole area to ourselves. The food and fruits are also delicious.

There are two seasons in the center of the country. The dry season from February to July and the rainy season from August to January. However, it remains hot and humid throughout the year. From August to December, violent typhoons hit the center and fairly frequent monsoon rains.

The best time to take Central Vietnam tours is from January to May, before the summer heat.
